BRACEBRIDGE, ONT – On February 20, 2012 Leaders and youth representing Beaver Scouts, Cub Scouts, Scouts, Sparks, Brownies, Guides, Rangers and Pathfinders, joined Mayor Smith in raising the Scouts Canada Flag at the Town of Bracebridge Municipal Office.February is a special month for Scouts and Girl Guides worldwide. Each year, both Movements celebrate February 22, the birthday of Scouts founder, Lord Robert Baden-Powell and his wife, the World Chief Guide, Lady Olave Baden-Powell. For the past four decades in Canada Scout-Guide Week has been recognized. This year Scout-Guide Week is February 19 – 26, 2012.
“The Town of Bracebridge is pleased to celebrate Scout-Guide Week and wishes both Scouts Canada and Girl Guides of Canada continued success”, said Mayor Smith. “It is an opportunity to recognize the potential of Canadian youth and the work that Scouting does to help build future leaders for communities across the country. Through its many exciting outdoor programs, Scouting instills values of leadership, honour, teamwork, and most importantly, an opportunity for youth to have fun”, stated Smith.
